Junil Ahn DDS MD

Dr. Ahn is a Board certified Oral and Maxillofacial surgeon who is both a licensed dentist and physician. He has extensive experience in all facets of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, anesthesia, and dental implant related surgery.

Dr. Ahn grew up in southern California in the Los Angeles and Orange County area and has a very diverse background with education and training in dentistry, medicine, and engineering.

He completed his undergraduate studies locally at UC Irvine as an electrical and computer engineering major where he was on the dean’s honor roll.  After graduation he did work in the area as an engineer then went on to pursue further studies in dentistry and medicine.

He traveled to Northern California to complete his dental degree (DDS) at the prestigious University of California, San Francisco. There he received numerous scholastic and clinical awards, including induction into Omicron Kappa Upsilon a dental honor society and graduated within the top of his class with high honors.  After completing his dental degree in San Francisco, he immediately continued onto the Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery residency at UC San Francisco.  

As part of his Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery he completed his medical degree (MD) at the University of California, Davis and received his general anesthesia training there.  After his medical school he went onto complete a year of general surgery training at UC San Francisco.  During his Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery training, he gained extensive experience in the various hospitals and clinics of San Francisco including the UC San Francisco Medical Center, San Francisco General Hospital, San Francisco VA Hospital, and UC San Francisco Dental Clinic.  He received training in the full scope of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery including dentoalveolar surgery, dental implantology, anesthesia, maxillofacial oncology, oral pathology, trauma, orthognathic and craniofacial surgery.

Upon completion of his training, he went onto private practice for several years in the San Fernando Valley and Thousand Oaks area where he gained extensive experience in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, particularly in the area of dental implantology. He was very active there in giving lectures, small group meetings, and study clubs.

With his diverse background in dentistry, medicine, and computer engineering he strives to bring the latest advances in surgery and technology together to provide the best patient care possible.

He is a licensed dentist and physician in California and has a California General Anesthesia Permit. He is a diplomate of the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, an active member of the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, Academy of Osseointegration, American Dental Association, California Dental Association, and Orange County Dental Society. Dr. Ahn continually updates his clinical and surgical skills and maintains his passion for learning by attending numerous continuing education courses in both dentistry and medicine. In addition Dr. Ahn is a continuing education provider and gives regulars lectures on various topics in the field or oral surgery, dental implantology, and medicine to other dentists and health professionals.

Dr. Ahn enjoys his free time with his wife and entertaining their two young daughters.  In his spare time he also enjoys staying active, watching sports, and trying to play golf.
